Known as the flamingo flower or pigtail plant, *Anthurium scherzerianum* is a popular ornamental houseplant prized for its striking orange-red curly spadix. It is naturally an epiphyte, thriving in the rainforest environment of Costa Rica.

Morphology
The plant typically reaches 30–45 cm tall and features shiny, lance-shaped leaves about 20 cm long. Its most striking feature is the orange-red curly spadix.
Distribution & habitat
Native to Costa Rica, where it naturally grows as an epiphyte on trees in the rainforest.
Cultivation notes
It requires bright indirect sunlight for 10 to 12 hours a day when grown indoors. It can also be grown outdoors in US USDA hardiness zones 11 and 12.
