About

A perennial, tuberous species notable for its rosette growth habit and white flowers. *Drosera lowriei* is endemic to Western Australia and is related to *D. zonaria*.

Morphology

The plant forms rosettes about 3 cm in diameter, composed of overlapping, green to red, obovate or spatulate leaves, which are 4 cm wide and 2 cm tall. Solitary white flowers appear on 1.5 cm long scapes, featuring ovate sepals that are 3.5 mm long and 1.5 mm wide.

Distribution & habitat

Endemic to an area northwest of Esperance, Western Australia, growing in wet zones near granite outcrops.

Ecology

It occurs in coarse, sandy soil.

History & etymology

The species was formally described by N. G. Marchant in 1992, and the specific epithet lowriei honors Allen Lowrie.

Conservation

The IUCN conservation status is Least Concern (LC).
