*Drosera modesta*, or the modest rainbow, is a scrambling perennial tuberous species notable for its shield-shaped carnivorous leaves and unusually long tentacles. It is endemic to Western Australia, thriving in specific granite and stream bank habitats.

Morphology

The species produces shield-shaped carnivorous leaves with longer than normal tentacles. The scrambling stems can reach lengths of 0.3–0.8 m. It also produces white flowers that bloom from October to November.

Distribution & habitat

Endemic to Western Australia, it is found growing on granite outcrops or stream banks.

Ecology

It is a carnivorous plant that grows in laterite or sand-clay soils.

The species was first described and named by Ludwig Diels in 1904.
