Known as the jewel rainbow, *Drosera neesii* is an erect or twining perennial tuberous species notable for its small, cup-shaped carnivorous leaves and pink flowers. It is endemic to Western Australia, thriving in swampy or granite outcrop environments.

Morphology

The species produces small, cup-shaped carnivorous leaves in groups of three along stems that can reach heights of 15–60 cm (6–24 in).

Endemic to Western Australia, growing near swamps or granite outcrops in sand, clay, or laterite.

History & etymology

The species was first described by Johann Georg Christian Lehmann in 1844. A later taxonomic revision occurred in 1982 when N. G. Marchant described the subspecies *D. neesii* subsp. borealis.
