Morphology

Leaves on mature specimens are obovate and range from 1 to 2 cm in length, with petioles growing from 1.5 to a maximum of approximately 5 cm. The plant exhibits a reddish tint under correct light conditions.

Distribution & habitat

Indigenous to KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.

Ecology

When capturing prey, the leaf curls around the victim to maximize contact with digestive glands, demonstrating thigmotropism.
