About

History & etymology

The genus name *Epiphyllum* comes from Ancient Greek, combining ἐπι- (epi-) meaning "upon" and φύλλον (phúllon) meaning "leaf". The type species is *Epiphyllum phyllanthus* (L.) Haw.
