About

A small, rare succulent plant notable for its distinctive white tubercles that appear only on the lower leaf surfaces, distinguishing it from similar species like *Haworthiopsis attenuata*.

Field notes

Morphology

The plants are generally small, less than 10 cm high. They feature triangular leaves that are green with narrow white crested strips on the outside and a non-acute spine at the leaf end. The leaves are often stouter and more deltoid, tending to curve inwards, and the white tubercles occur only on the lower sides.

Distribution & habitat

Endemic to the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, favoring the acidic sands of the fynbos vegetation type near Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage.

The species was formerly known as *Haworthia fasciata*.
