A notable species for its exceptionally large pitchers, *Heliamphora ionasi* can reach heights of up to 50 cm. It is thought to be endemic to a specific plateau region in Venezuela.

The species produces pitchers that can reach up to 50 cm in height.
Distribution & habitat
Endemic to the plateau located between the bases of Ilu Tepui and Tramen Tepui in Venezuela.
History & etymology
The specific epithet ionasi is based on a Latinized form of Jonah Boyan's first name. The species was discovered by a team led by Bassett Maguire.
