About

A distinctive tropical pitcher plant, *Nepenthes danseri*, is endemic to the northern coast of Waigeo Island. It is notable for its preference for open scrub and bare soils on ultramafic rock, and it is currently recognized as having no known natural hybrids.

Northern coast of Waigeo Island; sea level to 320 m altitude.

History & etymology

Formally described in 1997 by Matthew Jebb and Martin Cheek in their monograph "A skeletal revision of Nepenthes (Nepenthaceae)", though the name had been in use since at least 1994.
