A notable endemic species found only on the summit region of Thumb Peak in Palawan, *Nepenthes deaniana* is characterized by its large, impressive pitchers, which have been observed to reach a foot in length and six inches in thickness.

Distribution & habitat
Endemic to the summit region of Thumb Peak, a small ultramafic mountain in Puerto Princesa Province, Palawan, Philippines, at an altitude of 1,180–1,296 m above sea level.
History & etymology
First recorded by Adolph Daniel Edward Elmer in the April 20, 1912 issue of Leaflets of Philippine Botany, when he observed a large sterile species on Mount Pulgar (now known as Thumb Peak).
