A striking carnivorous species, *Nepenthes macfarlanei* is notable for its attractive red-speckled pitchers and the unique feature of its lid being densely covered with short, white hairs.

Morphology
Lower pitchers are ovoid or infundibular in the lower half and globose or cylindrical above, reaching up to 25 cm high. Upper (aerial) pitchers are lighter in color with reduced wings forming ribs. The lower surface of the lid is densely covered with short, white hairs.

Endemic to Peninsular Malaysia.
