Also known as the serpentine pitcher-plant, *Nepenthes macrovulgaris* is a notable lowland species endemic to Borneo, recognized for its relatively large size and common distribution within specific ultramafic habitats.

Morphology
Pitchers grow to around 25 cm high and range in colour from green to brown, with the speckled form being the most common.
Distribution & habitat
Malaysian Borneo, specifically in ultramafic habitats including Mount Kinabalu, Mount Tambuyukon, the Danum Valley, the Tawai Range, the Meliau Range, and Mount Silam. It is a lowland plant typically found at altitudes ranging from 300 to 1,200 m in sub-montane forest clearings and mossy forest.
History & etymology
Described by Turnbull and Middleton in 1988. The epithet *macrovulgaris* is an irregular combination of Greek (macro- meaning large) and Latin (vulgaris), chosen to indicate a relatively large plant and one that lacks a single unique distinguishing characteristic.
