A notable Philippine endemic, *Nepenthes mantalingajanensis* is found exclusively on the summit of Mount Mantalingajan on Palawan. It is distinguished by its smaller size and narrower lamina compared to other Palawan endemics, and its lower pitchers are often ovate or obconic.

Morphology
The plant can grow as a compact rosette or produce an upright stem up to 60 cm tall. Leaves are broadly lanceolate, measuring up to 20 cm in length by 6 cm in width, with an acute or obtuse apex. Lower pitchers are typically ovate or obconic, reaching up to 15 cm in height by 6.5 cm in width. The peristome is cylindrical, up to 2 cm across, bearing ribs and curved teeth. The operculum is cordate, measuring up to 5 cm in length by 4 cm in width.
Distribution & habitat
Endemic to the summit region of Mount Mantalingajan on Palawan, Philippines. Its altitudinal range extends from 1,700 m to 2,085 m.
History & etymology
First collected on Mount Mantalingajan in 1992 by G. C. G. Argent and E. M. Romero. The species was formally described by Joachim Nerz and Andreas Wistuba in 2007.
Conservation
McPherson notes that the species is 'not currently threatened' due to its extensive populations and the remote nature of Mount Mantalingajan, which is already a Protected Area.
