Known as the baby rubberplant, *Peperomia obtusifolia* is a popular houseplant recognized for its cupped, leathery leaves and attractive, winding spikes of white flowers. It is a highly awarded species that is generally resistant to common pests.

Morphology

An evergreen perennial growing to 25 cm (10 in) tall and broad, featuring cupped, leathery leaves and narrow spikes of white flowers up to 12 cm (5 in) long. The flowers grow in a shiny, winding manner.

Cultivation notes

It must be grown indoors in most temperate regions with a minimum temperature of 15 °C (59 °F). It requires high humidity and good lighting to maintain leaf color, but direct light should be avoided. Since the stem is fleshy, it does not require abundant or frequent watering.
