*Utricularia appendiculata* is a medium-sized, terrestrial carnivorous plant notable for being the sole member of the section *Oliveria*. It is endemic to a wide range of African countries, thriving in wet bog and marsh environments.

Distribution & habitat
Endemic to Africa, found in Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. It inhabits wet Sphagnum bogs, damp sandy savannas, or peaty marshes at altitudes ranging from 700 m to 1,860 m.
History & etymology
Originally published and described by Eileen Adelaide Bruce in 1933, and later placed in its own section, *Oliveria*, in 1986 by Peter Taylor.
