Distribution & habitat
Tropical Africa, specifically the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia, at altitudes ranging from 1,200 m to 1,650 m.
History & etymology
Originally described by Peter Taylor in 1964 as a variety of *U. welwitschii*, it was elevated to species status by Taylor in 1971.
